Kerry Boyd has been Superintendent of Yukon-Koyukuk School District (YKSD) since 2008. With the start of the 2022 school year, she is also serving as Superintendent of Tanana City School District under a Shared Service Agreement. Her leadership provides support for a combined Central Office, 11 rural schools along the Yukon, Koyukuk, and Tanana Rivers, and 6 homeschool satellite offices across the state of Alaska.
Kerry started her career in education as a classroom teacher specializing in special education in Florida in 1995. Before becoming superintendent of YKSD, she served as the Director of Federal Programs for the district and grant writer. Additional Alaskan experience includes her work as the coordinator for IDEA International DOD Homeschool program and as a special education teacher for Galena City School District's Interior Distance Education Alaska.
Superintendent Boyd has a deep understanding of the state's diverse cultures and keeps a pulse on educational initiatives through her involvement in a number of professional organizations. She was the 2020 Alaska Superintendent of the Year recipient, and continues her work on the ASA, ACSA, and many other professional organizations, including her work supporting initiatives of the Alaska Department of Education and Early Development. In 2021, the Yukon-Koyukuk School District Board of Education was named 2021 School Board of the Year by the Association of Alaska School Boards. As one of the longest-standing superintendents, she is well respected by her students, staff, communities, and peers.
