Frank Tobuk
Frank Tobuk, Evansville
Frank Tobuk, Sr. lived in Evansville, Alaska located at the foothills of the Brooks Range above the Arctic Circle. He was born in 1900 at Hunt’s Fork on the John River while his family was traveling and hunting in late winter. Like many Native people of that time, they moved from one campsite to another to live off of the land.
The book is divided into five chapters in which he shares the highlights of his life. He tells of his youth trying to learn the Eskimo ways from his parents, Athabascan ways from his neighbors, and mission teachings all at the same time.
