Food Service Staff

The only thing we love as much as our students (other than food) is our staff. They work hard to ensure young minds are energized every morning and afternoon to promote healthy learning and lifestyle.

Allakaket

Rebecca Linus is our head chef in Allakaket and has been with our district for over a decade. She is faithfully the first one at the school every morning, even at 35 below zero, and subsequently the first to freeze.

Thank you for your service, Rebecca! We are grateful for your dedication and persistence.

Meet Linda!

Linda has been cookin' up meals for Jimmy Huntington since 2015- that's nearly 4,000 hours in one kitchen! This photo was taken of her making smoothies for students for the first time.

Louis is the man who prepares lunch for the biggest school in our district, which is no small feat. During the school closure (due to the pandemic) he and his coworker served over 5,000 meals in 8 weeks! Way to go, Louis!

Kaltag School

Meet Monica Alexie.

Monica has been working for our district for about 5 years. She really loves her kids (in and out of school) and is great at uplifting others around her. She has a happy disposition and loves to serve those in her circle of influence.

Thank you for all you do, Monica!

Koyukuk

Marie Dayton:

I am an Alaskan Native, born and raised in the village of Nulato which is in the Interior 350 miles west of Fairbanks. I have lived in Koyukuk most of my life. I worked as a teacher aide for 14 years before pursuing a degree in teaching. After two and half grueling years, summer and all, I graduated from the University of Alaska. I began teaching for Yukon-Koyukuk School District in Allakaket. I have taught students in Koyukuk, Nulato, Kaltag and Fairbanks, until I retired. I now work as the secretary in Ella B. Vernetti School, plus lunch cook.

I enjoy my days working on preparing food for the students.

(And we're so grateful to have her!)
